I have a few questionS (not question)…I did a search but couldn’t find the answers to my specific questions

Is it okay to use the 10 x 13 clasp envelopes? Or should I get the adhesive kind?

Will colleges look down upon only have 1 teacher rec? I have moved a lot (all during the middle of the school year) and there is really only one teacher I can think of to write me a really stellar recommendation. None of my schools require 2 recs but I don’t know if it’s recommended or what…

How many recs is TOO many for 1 teacher? I am applying to 7 schools, but 6 out of the 7 take the common application. I am printing out a form for each school, but could the teacher just make a copy of one if they wanted?

(this is kind of stupid) The common app forms have the watermark “School Official Copy”-- that is the one that is supposed to go out to colleges…right…

Also, should I ask for them back to send or should the teacher just send it? I am including postage with it so it shouldn’t be a problem. Oh, and is it common to include a self-addressed postcard to make sure that the school received the application?

1) They don't care which envelopes you send it in.

2) Most colleges will ask you for two PLUS a counselor rec. You should line up another one.

3) Your teacher can write the exact same letter for each school as long as she doesn't send a letter that says (X would be great at school 1 to school 2).

4)As long as the information is on there I don't think the water mark is particuarly important. It's probably a counselor/transcript form that you aren't responsible for filling out.

5) Give the teacher an addressed, stamped envelope. And don't send a postcard. They won't send it back. If anything is missing, the school will notify you.

Thanks! But for the 2 recommendations....all of the schools I am applying to (Tufts, Brandeis, Emory, NYU, GWU, BU, UMich) have the "1 Teacher Evaluation" on their info on the Common App. Would it really benefit me at all to get another mediocre rec just for the sake of having 2 recs?

If the school you are applying to only requires one recommendation from a teacher, then send only one. It would possibly hurt your chances if you send another mediocre one. Colleges that require one rec. will not look down on you for following the requirements. You can check with colleges and see if they allow additional optional recommendations (For example I know Vanderbilt does off th top of my head) but with someone in your circumstances I think you shold send only one. Again, it won't hurt you.

Also, I thought Emory didn't require any teacher recommendations, but they allowed you to send two optional ones.
