Question about recommendations (what subject is computer science?)

Stanford says that they need a rec from teachers of different subject areas. I have one rec from a math teacher and another from a computer science teacher. Are these considered different subjects? They don't list computer science on their subject list.

Also, are there any schools besides MIT, Chicago, Harvard, and Stanford that need 2 teachers of diff. subjects?

If I had to group computer science under the main categories, I would call it math, but I think that they're different enough that what you're doing is alright.

thanks, any other opinions?

I asked this same question and received several responses that said Comp Sci should be considered Math. Someone also suggested to check to see what your HS categories it as and use that for your guide.

It'd be considered a college preparatory elective and not a main subject at my school. You should definitely check with your school.

They are classified as computer science courses at my school, hmm...

Back in September, I sent an email to the Stanford admissions office asking whether they would accept a recommendation from a computer science teacher. They said they would. However, make sure to check with each school because I have a friend applying to a LAC which did not consider computer science a core subject.
