I've been contacted a few times by the Multicultural Recruitment Program at Yale (I'm Mexican-American), but I'm not quite sure what that signifies about my chances for acceptance. Does this contact mean that I have a fair chance of acceptance when it comes time for me to apply? Or is it just a red-herring of sorts?

I heard a guy who was contacted by the same thing and he was rejected. His stats were similar to people who were accepted. He was from Oklahoma too.

Oh, that's certainly depressing. I mean, of course I know that there's no guarantee of admission...but are the chances better, at least?

Not enough information to say. It can't be bad though!
