I gave my teacher all the material he would need to do my recs in Decemeber but after coming back from vacation I found out he didnt send them until about Thursday Jan. 11. My question is what if they dont get there in time for Jan 15 deadline. Will i be totally out of luck?

I think colleges look at when they were postmarked. Either way... they should get there in three or four days. I'm sure you'll be fine.

The recs can even be sent after the deadline, you have nothing to worry about.

I gave my teacher the materials for Stanford in early October, and she sent them in on the Dec 15 deadline. I wrote to the admissions office, and they said they didn't mind.

Bottom line: you'll be fine. As long as it was postmarked on or before Jan 15 (which it clearly was), I would not worry.

It only matters if YOU met the deadline; are you implying you sent the app, supplements, application fee and test scores in before you requested your recs from the teacher? College admissions depts. know you have no control over when the recs and transcripts are sent.
