I was checking to make sure I do not have any holds or stops for Fall 2012, which I don't. I then went to check Spring 2013, and it has a Registration Stop, Hold on Transcript and a Hold on Diploma. Why is that?
It says to call Student Financial Services, but I know I'll be on hold for a lifetime if I do now. So hopefully one of you will save me from having to call, lol.

I just checked mine and it shows no stops or holds for Spring 2013.

I have had stops in the past that were errors. They just required a phone call to straighten out.

Registration isn’t for another month or two, right? Why not just send an email?

There could be a lot of different reasons for a hold. If your health insurance has a listed expiration date that falls before the end of the spring semester, you’ll have to go in and fix that.

If you will have completed 90 credit hours by the end of this semester, you’re supposed to do a graduation check. It’s possible that that could be the problem.

Registration for Spring won’t open until at least the second week of October. You have plenty of time to talk to someone and figure out what the hold is.

I thought though that if you had a hold or a stop or anything, that it listed what the hold was for. I remember a hold or stop being listed for my health insurance way back in my freshman year and it saying something like “Hold due to health insurance” or something.

I had holds put on my accounts a couple of times because I forgot to pay the stupid $5.00 for FSU CARD renewal at beginning of semesters. FSU will put the brakes on registering, making course changes, etc. for as little as owing them $5.00. Pay 'em or you may have a hold placed on your registration at FSU!

papertiger, contact the Student Financial Services office to find out what they want.

The FSUCard fee is most likely what it is. That and tuition are the only things on my end that I have to pay, and I have this on my page:

The following lists the stops on [name] for Spring 2013:
Stops
Area Name Contact Phone Type(s)
Accounts Receivable Hold Student Financial Services, (850) 644-9452
Registration stop. Hold on transcript. Hold on diploma.

The only thing I need to pay is my tuition which my FA will be paying for most of it. The rest I’ll pay out of pocket.
It says to call Financial Services but I’ll have to wait until Monday to call.
I have submitted a graduation check for my primary major but not my second major as my advisor hasn’t responded yet. Which is frustrating.
I’m not even graduating this Spring and I have to stress about all this already. I wish I knew about this before. If I can’t register for my History Sen. Seminar for Spring bc of this hold I’m basically ****ed.

Make sure to pay the $5 FSU card fee by due date Fri. or your id card might not work Sat. at admission gate at Doak for Murray State football game if you ordered a student ticket with the new ticket system. Tuition is due by next week, FSU card fee is due by Fri. Aug. 31. Financial aid doesn’t automatically pay the $5 card fee, so don’t get caught with your pants down trying to get into game with a locked up FSU card if they get hardnosed for letting students into game.

I’ve never had a problem where my financial aid didn’t pay the FSUCard fee each semester.

It SHOULD all be paid either Friday night or Saturday morning, when FSU posts financial aid to our accounts. If it’s not posted by the time you’re leaving for the game, then I would probably pay it online, but then you’re looking at paying $12 for the $5 card fee…

Why do I have to pay the card fee?
I called up she said the hold is bc of Fall tuition and will go away once paid. I’m taking 18 credits so some of it will come out of my pocket. But other than tuition I don’t have any other fees.

Also am I supposed to see the FSUCard fee on Blackboard bc I don’t see it. All it shows is my tuition for 6 classes, the tech. fee, student facilities fee, transportation fee and they subtracted 15.08 for 16 hour athletic fee cap adjus.

The FSUCard Fee is a $5/semester fee. Everyone has to pay it.

If you don’t see it, I would actually be concerned. It’s been listed on my account for weeks now.

It’s not on my friends account either. We’re new transfer students and got our cards in March. Who should I contact about this?

I honestly couldn’t tell you. I’d probably call Student Financial Services and ask them whether you should be concerned that the fee isn’t listed on your account, and what you should do.

Like I said, it’s been on my account for weeks now. I’m pretty sure it’s been there since right after summer semester ended.

Try calling the Registrar’s office at (580)644-1050.

I have to go to Registrar’s Office tomorrow anyway for my graduation check so I’ll ask them in person about it. I would have never known about this fee if y’all never mentioned it.

I asked at Registrars and she said never heard of it and just said you just pay that $25 fee in the beginning.

I had to pay about $111 for first month rent/fsu card/u-box before I able to remove the stop/holds on my account. Silly.

Was it the initial payment for your fsu card?
But yeah they won’t let you do anything if you owe any amount of money to the school.

I can almost guarantee that you will end up paying the FSUCard fee one way or another. It’s not like it’s something only certain students pay, or something.

Here’s my Account Statement:

Tuition Payments, Adjustments and Arrangements

Description Date Amount
Total Tuition Due $2,999.26

Other University Charges
Description Date Amount
FSU CARD - FSUCARD TERM FEE 08/31/12 $5.00
Total Owed $3,004.26

Just to beat this FSU Card fee thing to death: I mailed my $5 to FSU Monday and they posted it as paid on my account statement in blackboard today. So, it doesn’t show as outstanding owed now, but rather, it shows down at bottom of my account statement in account history section as paid. If papertiger clicks over in corner section of account history for last 6 months or year selection, he’ll probably see when he paid the FSU Card fee back aways.

What I’m really concerned with now is exactly when FSU Financial Aid will disburse funds to my bank account seeing how Monday (Labor Day) is a bank holiday. We might not get our hands on any of the excess financial aid money until maybe Tues. or Wed. next week.
