Hi I applied early decision to swarthmore and Im waiting for that response. I need to get my other applications ready in case I dont get in. My question is: should I give my teachers and guidance office envelopes and have them send materials into regular decision schools and then if i dont get in early to swarthmore just have my applications ready online and send them with the materials all there already?

I'd just wait until you find out. Definitely have most of the stuff ready, but for some of it (like the stamps on the envelopes, or scheduling extra interviews for schools or whatever it is), I'd wait on.

I applied ED to Swat too, and I have all my other apps ready just in case, aside from the things that would be pointless to do. It makes no sense to pay the application fees for schools and send things if you do get in. :]

I'd go ahead and send the school stuff out, so you are not scrambling if the unthinkable happens. Then, submit the online apps if you need to.

Definitely get the school stuff -- reccs, transcripts -- out now.
If you wait until you get your decision, the teachers and guidance office will be swamped with work that includes students last minute applications, writing exams and preparing for the Dec. holidays.

Better to have them send things out now, and not apply, then to ask them too late and have them either turn you down because of lack of time or get things in very late or do the things in a shoddy way. You're already asking them at a bad time. Don't delay and compound the problem.
