Question about reporting SATs/APs. Please help!

I just talked to an admissions rep and she said that we have to send in official SAT and AP scores for consideration before a decision is made. This was news to me. Unfortunately, the "test scores" page of the app only lets you input APs or IBs; should I mention briefly my SATs in the "Other" section? You know, the one with the 500 word limit section.

Thanks!

Do we really need to send in our SAT scores?

not as a transfer student.

I don’t think they’re required, but if you took them and are at an institution that required them for admission, they’d be suspicious. IDK. The admissions lady told me to send them and that they would be used in the admissions process.

Anybody else? Should I put the scores in the “Other” section?

No, SATs/ACTs are not required for transfer admission to a UC.

[Transfer Admission Guide - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/tradms.htm)

List AP’s if you want them to count towards your unit requirement.

I’d like to send in SAT scores as a transfer, because I had good ones. Nonetheless, they don’t ask for them. I’m going to assume they wouldn’t care about them if you sent them.

Is 2070 “good”? Would it be worth sending them? I talked to Berkeley (the only place I’m applying…), and they just seemed really resolute about wanting the scores.

I’m pretty sure you had some communication problem there. I’m almost 100% positive that the UC’s will not consider your SAT’s as a Junior transfer. If you do some Googling, you’ll likely come to the same result.

Well, Berkeley’s website says this “A: No. SATs/APs/IBs can be used to fulfill certain breadth requirements. If you are offered admission and we need official scores, you will be instructed to submit them July 15.” I believe that’s referring to SAT II’s.

That’s odd. I too had read the part about “A: No. SATs/APs/IBs can be used to fulfill certain breadth requirements. If you are offered admission and we need official scores, you will be instructed to submit them July 15.”

I was very explicit in how I asked the question, don’t know how she could have been confused. I’ll call tomorrow and see if they give me the same answer, haha.

i put mine in my additional comments section but i decided i’d say i put them there for consideration of any scholarships if applicable :] i thought it was a clever way of showing my pretty good scores since they say they show the app to organizations interested in giving out scholarships lol, though i forgot to add my subject test scores which i regret…

Aw I wish I’d have thought of that, I got a frickin 2260 haha. That’d have been good to sneak in there.

So are you guys gonna send in your SATs before dec./jan. ?

nah, i don’t know if they would actually look at official scores…though if they do they could also look at the ones i sent them last yr from in hs lol, though i think they’d believe the scores i put since i also had national merit…but i would send them official ones if they tell me a scholarship organization actually does want to look at them lol

I E-mailed Berkeley’s admissions office asking whether or not we could send them in and I got a very strange response. She said “You are free to send in your scores, but we will not review them.” Then I said, “Why would I send my scores if you wouldn’t review them?” and she said “In your original message you mentioned that you wanted to send in your SAT scores. You can, but we will not use them in our review. Bottom line, you do not need to send them.”

There it is.

hahahahaha, wowwww

Yep, I’m certain that we don’t need to send SAT scores. Anything related to High School (except AP courses if you wish to use them for credit) is not needed.
