I know MIT requires a rec from a math/science teacher. But are we allowed to give this rec to a teacher who hasn't taught us? There's an AP Stats teacher at my school who knows me very well, better than any other teacher. He is the sponsor of math club, of which I've been a part of since freshmen year, and I will be the president next year. However, my schedule didn't allow me to have him as a stats teacher. So am I allowed to give him the rec? (I think the answer is probably no)

Also, can the teacher be from a university instead of my high school? I take math classes on Sundays at a local university, so can I give the rec to the professor instead?

Thanks.
