question about rescinding admission

I was accepted ED I to WASH u in st. louis.

1st mp grades were:

Ap econ A-
Ap physics A
ap bio A
ap calc ab B-
english hon B+
italian 4 hon A
acctg ii hon A+

2nd marking period (after being accepted):
Ap econ B
Ap physics B
ap bio A-
ap calc ab C
english hon B
italian 4 hon A
acctg ii hon A

I went down in nearly every subject but i only have 1 C and the rest A's and B's. Am i in any sort of trouble here as far as a warning letter or rescinding acceptance?

Congrats on getting into wash U. Your admission will not be rescinded becasuse you got one C. Did you apply for any type of scholarship that is based on merit? This is the part where your midyear grades can be come sketchy (because your lowered gpa could knock you out of contention)

Overall, you will have a new start with the second half of the term, just make sure you keep your grades up, try hard not to get anything below a "B" and you will will definitely be ok.

i applied for the moog but I seriously have no chance at it anyway so its not a concern as far as scholarships (i cant believe i got in with a sub 1400 SAT score so im prolly one of the least qualified candidates anyway)

anyone else?

you're fine. A c isn't that bad. But just keep working your best.

Even tho I'm going down in almost every subject?

Idk i'm just really paranoid because i've gone down in everything and I think they're gonna see it as slacking and rescind my acceptance (its more of just doing exceptinoally well in 1st and not being able to match it 2nd)

I'm with you, friend. I went from all A's in 3APs to mostly B's and one C in 1 AP and a B in one college course. We're holding on by the skin of our teeth. But...who do you know that has had their admission rescinded? Exactly. No one. So I doubt we'll get the shaft.

haha....letz pray (where'd u get in?)

I remember someone asking about this at a Columbia info session...they said that they rescinded 3 people's acceptances in previous years (might have been last year alone). Even so, if they rescinded 3 in one year out of the ~2,300 that were admitted, think of the percentages there. It's about .1%. And that's at an Ivy League school. Do you really think that a C and a couple B's are going to keep you out? IMHO, I would think that you'd need a D on that transcript for them to even consider it.

I'm not saying slack off, I'm just saying ease your worries for now and try hard to keep B's or better for the remainder of the year. If they see one bad quarter and then mostly A's and high-end B's for the rest of the year, I would say that they'd think nothing of it. I'm not an admissions officer, but that's my opinion.

If you're looking at it like "I slacked a little but am going to pick it up from now on," then you'll be OK.

If you're thinking "How much can I slack off without getting in trouble?" I think you're going about it the wrong way.

It's the final stretch, man. Don't let it go now. :)

thx for the help man i appreciate it

would a C- trigger anything worse than a C or C+ because im prolly gonna get C- (i have a chance at a C 1 more quiz) Everything else mostly B's and a few A's. WENT DOWN IN EVERYTHING FROM 1st to 2nd. I'm trying to tell myself ill be fine but just anyone's input is appreciated.

do you think i'll get a warning letter?

I was worried last year too about gettin rescinded... I had gotten into Cornell ED and slipped from all As to some Bs and a C.

I worked my ass off and ended up with 5 A's and 2 B's. Not only cause I was concerned, but also because I didn't want below a B on my transcript and wanted to maintain my rank.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but put in the effort because you should.

i agree but were your grades B's and C's on the mid-year report?

Yes, at mid-year I had a bunch of Bs and one or two Cs...

Besides, even if you do get a letter about your mid-year report, you'd have a semester's notice to improve the grades (which you should be doing anyway).

Where in Northern Jersey are you?

Morris County

Okay, where (PM me...)

montville.

Ah, I went to Whippany Park.
