Hey everyone. I'm an Anthro major and transfer student. I already have ideas on which graduates schools I want to apply for so want to get some research experience. So I applied through URAP by the deadline and I just received an e-mail with an offer for an interview. I do not want to pass up the opportunity but I am nervous because the way that the project was briefly described to me (not much detail btw), informed me that I'd potentially be involved with analytical techniques that I hadn't even known about (and just briefly researched to get some background). I am prepared for the interview (I will respond tomorrow and mostly likely say yes anyways to schedule an interview), but I don't know exactly what to expect. Are people "guided" through the process during research, or are they expected to have a broad idea of what these concepts are and the fundamentals behind the techniques involved during analysis? In my case, without being specific, it deals with Archaeology and certain statistical methods of analysis (as was explained).

With undergrads, it tends to lean more towards the former than the latter. As you familiarize yourself more with your area, you can certainly ask your advisor for a more independent project leaning towards the latter.
