I am currently a sophomore in high school in California. During the first semester of this school year, I slacked off and as a result, I got a D in Algebra 2. If I retake this class in community college(chabot) will I be able to use the grade I got in community college when i apply for colleges on transcript? If so, will it be for one semester or both?

Bump…

It depends on the school. Most top colleges won’t accept it as a credit. If they do, it’ll be most likely for 1 semester.

I mean, lets say I get an A when I take it over the summer. When its time to apply for colleges(CSUs/UCs) can I use that A that I got from the summer instead the D I got from first semester?

It depends on your high school. Mine has a forgiveness policy if you get a D or lower, you can retake the class, and colleges won’t see your D or F. You can take the class online or in school.
