Question about retaking & superscoring

(I'm a junior who took the SAT for the 1st time in Nov 2010)

I'm neither super happy nor unhappy about my score; I don't even know if I can improve my score lol

So, hypothetically speaking, let's say I got a 2200 (that's not my actual score, but I don't wish to reveal my true score for privacy reasons).
M 780
W 780
CR 640

If I retook it and received a 2150 (M 710, W 720, CR 720), how would that look? My overall score, 2150, is 50 pts lower than the previous 2200. However, the superscore is 2280... but my retake was lower... but my superscore is higher... but my retake was lower...

So how does the above situation look on college apps?
Thanks :)

They’re both the same total score (2150), so they’ll look the same to schools who look at all 3 sections. If the school super-scores, then you’ll have a higher total score, which’ll look better.

Oh, actually, the first hypothetical score was 2200 and the second was 2150! Basically, how does it look if your superscore is good but your retake’s score is lower than the first score? Especially at top-tier schools.

Thanks for answering! :)

If the school superscores then sending both scores will help since some of the section scores were better on the second take.

Yeah, the key here is to see how the schools you’re interested in view your test.
