Hi guys, I have a question. UCF is one of my choices next year. I am interested in both communications (radio/television specifically) and hospitality/hotel management. However, I'm not 100 percent sure of what to major in. Is it possible to transfer to Rosen, in say or sophomore or junior year from UCF main campus? I just feel if I go to Rosen as a freshman, I will only be exposed to Hospitality majors and not allow my interests to spark in other areas.

If you are going to be a freshman, your classes will all be based on the UCF main campus anyway. Once you get some gen eds under your belt, most of the hospitality classes are offered at Rosen. There is a shuttle that can take you there, if needed. The Hospitality major is a great one at UCF, but this way you can stay right where you want and see how it goes for now. :~)

Yeah, you can double major if you so desire. I have a friend that double majored Business Management with Computer Engineering. I’m doing Event Management at the Rosen College. I enjoy it. I plan on majoring in Hospitality Management since the majority of the classes that I’m taking with Event Management are required for the Minor in Hospitality Management. Also, one of the advantages of the shuttle is that it’s Free! And with Gas near $2.65 a Gallon, it does get quite expensive when you travel from Main Campus to Rosen, especially if you get stuck in traffic. They start leaving Rosen Campus around 6:45 AM and Main Campus around 8 AM with the last Shuttle leaving Rosen around 7:30 PM with the Main Campus around 9 PM.

My daughter is an Event Management (Hospitality) major and going into her sophmore year at UCF. She took her general ed classes and a few hospitality class on the main campus, dormed on the main campus, for Summer B 2009 and Fall and Spring 2010.

This coming Fall, she is continuing with the general ed classes and has now added a day where she is attending Event management classes at Rosen. She’s taking her car down this year (didn’t have one last year) so she’ll be commuting on her own to Rosen. I wouldn’t be surprised if she finds another person taking the same classes and they will both commute to Rosen for the day.

So if you are planning on going to UCF, consider the main campus your first two years.
