Question about SAT II Chemistry scores

Does anyone know what is the maximum number of questions you can get wrong/omit to attain an 800 on the 2009 SAT II Chemistry exam?

I basically studied from an AP Chemistry textbook/regular Chemistry notes (since I am currently taking AP Chemistry) and took the SAT II Chemistry exam two weeks ago (Dec. 2009 administration). I'm wondering if I could have gotten an 800. I answered 82 of the 85 questions and omitted the other 3 due to lack of time.

I'm also wondering if the students who took the SAT II Chemistry exam found it mostly easy/mediocre. Is the SAT II Chemistry exam a good preparation for answering about half of the multiple choice questions on the AP Chemistry exam?

According to Barron’s study book a raw score of above 75 could potentially get you an 800.

I took the test in Nov, left no questions blank, wasn’t too sure about a few questions I answered and ended up with 800.

I took AP Chem last year and got a 5.
I found it pretty easy, but it’s definitely more math and calculations than the subject test.
The concepts though were more or less the same with a few extensions here and there on the AP.

Good Luck

It’s not that bad, I took it as a sophomore after honors chem. I think about 3 questions wrong would still be an 800, not sure though. It is more tightly curved than physics for example.

Thanks! I now have a general idea of the chemistry scaled score curve. The exam was fairly easy, for the most part.

Glad to know, Ill be taking it this spring.

I thought i did horribly on the CHem SAT IIs (going in there barely having knowledge of acid/bases, solubility equilibriums, electrochemistry, redox equations) and I ended up with a 780. Partly it could have been luck: I managed to cross out a few answers and might’ve guessed right. But on the other hand, I think you may be able to get a few wrong and still get an 800.
