do the ivy league schools require SAT II's?

Stanford is my top choice school and here is what Stanford's website says:

"It is also strongly recommended that students take two SAT Subject Tests (with one being Math Level 2)."

however when I asked a family freind who transferred to a top 20 university: he said that colleges don't require SAT II's for transfers. Obviously Stanford does, I just found that out, but do any Ivies require them? Should I just retake them anyway?

Thanks

In general SAT IIs are more important if you're transferring in as a sophomore than as a junior. SAT IIs are designed to predict how well you'll do in a specific area of study at a college level, which by the time you finish your sophomore year is pretty clear from your GPA and transcript alone.

As for if Ivies require them, I actually think most of them don't. They're required for freshmen applicants, but most transfer applicants are only required to submit either the SAT I or the ACT I think. At least that's the case for Yale and Penn, the schools to which I applied. You'll have to look at each school's website to be sure though. Make sure you're in the transfer requirements section and not the freshman one; I had a heart attack a few days after I submitted my Penn app because I accidentally read the freshman requirements that called for like 4 SAT IIs.

Good luck!

thank you! thats good to now becuase I plan on applying as a junior.

So Penn doesn't, I think Cornell dosen't either but I still don't want to take chances.

So if you apply as a junior then less SAT II weight?

btw do you know your result for Penn yet?

Nope, I haven't heard from Penn, but I did get in to Yale with only submitting one very bad SAT II. So all signs point toward them not mattering that much. Just do well in your classes, keep up your GPA, and you should be fine.
