Question about SAT Subject Tests

SAT Subject tests are not required for Penn like they are in 5 out of 8 Ivies. I live in a part of Alabama where practically no one has ever heard of them. Heck, I hadn't even heard of them til this year! With that being said, I don't really feel comfortable taking them. Do you think that not taking them will look bad on an app.? Or should I just go ahead and bite the bullet? Thanks

well, if ur not going to take them, MAKE SURE u take the ACT plus writing as a back up…like, with Penn, u cant just take the SAT I, send in ur scores, and expect that’s what they want - cuz its not. Ur allowed to take the SAT I WITH the subject tests or the ACT w/ writing W/O taking the subject tests. Good luck!

I didn’t send my Subject Test scores to Penn, and I got in with a score of 33 on the ACT plus writing. Maybe just take them and see if you do well enough to help you, that can’t do any harm.

I have taken the ACT w/ writing as well as the SAT. 31 on ACT (taking again Saturday) but haven’t gotten SAT back yet. If I take the subject tests and do poorly and then I don’t choose to submit them do you think Penn will be like " well she didn’t submit her scores so she must have done REALLY bad."?
