A lot of the colleges I’ve been looking at do the SAT superscore thing. I was just wondering if your superscore is looked at the same as someone else who got that same score in one sitting. For example my superscore for my 3 best practice tests would be a 2260. If I got that same score over three tests on the real SAT is that looked at the same as someone who got a 2260 in one sitting? Are colleges more impressed if you can get that score on one test or don’t they care?
Yes and no. What they say on their websites is that they only take the highest of each section (so a super score of 2260 = a 2260 single sitting). However, the Adcoms will be more impressed by a 2260 single sitting over a 2260 super score (it’s human nature). So assuming two applicants with (literally) everything else equal, the applicant with the 2260 single sitting will be admitted over the 2260 superscore.
Ok, that makes sense. Thank you!
I wouldn’t be so sure of that “human nature” claim. In my experience, there’s no real evidence to support it.
