Question about SAT Test daY

This may be dumb. I just signed up for my SAT I for December. It says bring #2 pencils. They said do not bring mechanical pencils, Do they mean it? I use mechanical pencils all the time on standardized testings, whether it's for the state or whatever.
Do you guys use pencil or mechanical pencil on the SAT ?

It depends on the proctor; some will allow you and some won't
I always use brand new #2 pencils though.

you can use mechanical pencils. Disregard whatever they say

i used my mechanical pencil

i always use mechanical as well...but i also bring one or 2 #2 pencils just in case i have bad luck or something

bring mechanical and regular #2's in case your procter's strict.

will mechanical pencils make a difference in how ur answer sheet is scored, like, if i used a mechnical pencil, would i be marked off for a question i answered correctly?

no nothing like that...its just some proctors don't allow it...all of my friends and me used it...and we got the same scores we expected ourselves to get..

ight cool, thanks dude

Ok. I hope my proctors isn't that strict to the fact that he or she won't allow me to use a mechanical pencil. But I'll still bring a #2 pencil just in case..

My proctor nailed me for using mechanical pencils for reasoning out answers during the math section, so I would advise to take both, with multiple #2s just in case one breaks. (However, I did take one of my PSATs with a #3 because I had no other pencils. It went fine, as the onyl asnwers incorrect were the ones I actually got wrong. I don't advise this, however.)
