I'm currently a rising senior and I'm wondering if I should take Math II and Physics again during October to improve those scores. Out of all the schools I'm applying to, only two require applicants to submit all SAT subject test scores. Those schools are U Penn's Wharton (my dream school, I'm also applying early here) and Columbia. The others either do not require SAT subject tests or they allow score choice.

My SAT subject test scores are-
780 Math II
770 USH
720 Physics

Physics has always been a difficult subject for me and it will require a lot of time and hard work to improve that score, and I think studying will be hard to balance with college applications and 5 AP classes (Lit, Econ, Biology, BC Calculus, Spanish) . With that said, I have a couple of questions.

Will the 720 on Physics significantly hurt my chances? (I do not plan on pursuing engineering)

Should I take Math II and Physics again?

Thanks for your help!

Definitely not an expert on this, but I would keep the Math II score; 780 will be fine I think. Would it be possible for you not to submit your physics score? You may want to retake that, but it shouldn’t bring you down significantly.

I can choose not to submit my Physics score for most of the colleges I am applying to. I can’t do that for UPenn or Columbia :(

Then if it really bothers you and you are wiling to put in the time studying, then retake it. Maybe find a friend who aced the test to help you.

If you don’t want to engineer, what do you want to major in? if it’s not STEM, the physics and math II will help and show you have other interests and that you are at least TRYING.

And I thought Columbia let’s you use score choice…[Required Standardized Testing | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/firstyear/testing)

I want to major in finance.
Columbia requires you to submit all scores. I also talked with a admissions counselor.
So you do you think i should retake them?
Also, thanks for replying :D

I personally think all those scores are fine, but if you really aren’t satisfied, I’d say it’s reasonable to retake physics. However, the Math II score is fine. I know that lots of kids get 800s on Math II, but a 780 was good enough for me to get into Hopkins and I’m far from a perfect student. I also know of a bunch of kids with subject test scores much lower than their other standardized test scores and their true ability because they rushed to take a few tests when they realized colleges required them, but it didn’t seem to affect college decisions very much. I know Wharton is highly competitive, but the decision is certainly not going to come down to whether or not you’re outstanding (rather than just good) at math or physics.

Thanks for the advice!
