If you look at the instructions for the scholarship applications, for most of them it says send in a complete scholarship/fellowship application packet. For the arts and sciences ones (I was planning on applying for the Moog one) it says one complete application packet. Does that mean it needs to be in with my pre-app and my common app, or is it a complete scholarship application packet they're looking for?

You submit scholarship package separately, it even has a different address

mmk, thanks

I just wasn't sure

where can I find the address for the danforth scholarship for my teacher to send in her nomination? i mean where other than the nomination letter she has?

Have GC contact admissions office at WashU. From what I remember, there was an actual nomination form available from the admissions office.

I'm a senior applying to Wash U this year and I got a nomination for Danforth. I first asked my guidance counselor about it, and a Wash U rep happened to visit my school the next day. My GC got the needed information, and the form, which I then gave to a teacher who got it done. So ask your GC. But the deadline's coming up REAL fast.

Speaking of Danforth, how many people actually are awarded anything? I know the scholarship is REALLY competetive, and I know it's really tough to get one, but how tough? Like, percentage-wise. I'm just wondering...

I think somewhere from 2000-3000 apply (it might be lower, I'm not sure though), and of those around 35-40 are selected for the finalist weekend. Then there's interviews and stuff and 3-4 are offered full tuition scholarships, 16 are offered half, and the rest quarter.

Illinois-kid, my son was nominated for Danforth. The letter he received from Wash U said the scholarship application was due Jan 15. Did your letter say something different?

I haven't gotten a letter yet. That's because the person who nominated me mailed the nomination two days ago.

But I did talk to the Wash U rep when she visited my school, and she said that once the nomination has been processed, you'll get an application, which is due around the time your actual Wash U app is due. You then find out around the time of your admissions decision about your Danforth status.

So no, I don't have a letter saying the application was due Jan 15. But from what I can gather from my talk with the admissions rep, yes, Jan. 15 probably is the date.

Your first clue as to your status as a potential Scholar (for any of the Scholars programs - including Danforth) is if you are invited to Scholars interview weekend which takes place the end of March. All semi finalists are invited to this all expense paid weekend. The results from this weekend determines your final status along with any merit award.

how long does it take to get the application after sending in the nomination?

bump, am curious about this too

over30- my letter came today. Yes, the scholarship application is due Jan. 15 on mine.

Chet2006 and Schmivy- My teacher mailed my nomination on October 5th. I got my letter today. So, about 10 days from the time the rec was sent to the time I got my letter.

k thanks, i sent mine on the 9th and still didn't get it. hope it went through in time...

mine was sent on october 4th and i still haven't heard back. what's the essay that we have to write and stuff?

yeah, can someone describe the app?

has anyone not yet received their Danforth scholarship application who got it there before October 11th??

I just got mine today, but it was about two weeks after the nomination was sent in.
