Question about scores....

Hey everyone. I checked my SATII scores this morning.

Math II: 800
Literature: 770
Physics: 720

Regarding Physics, I hadn't/haven't had electromagnetism, waves, or optics yet. I took AP Physics Mechanics last semester but only had about a week of AP Physics Electromagnetism before taking the test. I didn't self-prep, either.

So here's my question. I'm applying to top schools and a few Ivy league universities. Three or four of my schools (out of 9) required SAT IIs. The others accepted the ACT in place of the subject tests. My SAT/ACT scores are perfect/near perfect. Should I still send in these scores to colleges which won't require them?

At the moment, I'm thinking I should probably send the scores, but at the same time I'd like to explain my Physics score, since I feel I would've gotten an 800 had I already covered those other areas of physics. Would I look tacky if I were to send an e-mail with a sentence-long explanation for Physics?

Also, please realize that I don't think a 720 is a poor score - just that I feel I could easily do better.

bump (10 char)

send them in... a 770 in Lit is V.impressive. Plus, they ll only look at 2 highest scores.

Thanks! I will.

Send them, and definitely don't send a note explaining Physics, which is still a fine score. To be quite frank, the only situation I can think of where a note explaining a test score would be appropriate would be if you were ill/were on side effect inducing medication. Otherwise, your situation (while understandable...let's not talk about the terrible score I likely would have gotten on the Physics SAT II!!) is basically a lot of people's situation--you weren't as prepared for the test as you could have been. I mean, I could have probably gotten straight 800's on my SAT II's...if I had studied at all! :)

Seriously though, those are excellent SAT II scores, and they speak well for you--even Physics. Send them and don't worry about it.
