Question about sending SAT/ACT scores

Hi, I'm a junior and have taken both the SAT and ACT, and I'll be taking 3 SAT subject tests this Saturday. If I want to send in just my ACT and SAT II scores to colleges such as Yale, Georgetown, Dartmouth, etc...can I do that? or do I have to send in scores for the SAT I if I send in the ones for the SAT II?

Basically, I received a much higher score on the ACT than the SAT and would love to avoid taking either one again if at all possible.

I know rules vary from school to school, but my main concern is that there is a school that will not allow me to send in SAT II scores without the SAT I score.

Can anyone help?

You just said it varies from school to school…so how exactly can someone help you with this question, other than doing what you should be able to do on your own? (You’re the only one who knows what schools are on your “etc.” list, too.) Just go on the website for each school you are interested in, or if you can’t find an answer call the various admissions offices.

I have to say, and with all due respect…it concerns me that a high school junior would not be able to do the kind of investigation required to answer this question and instead choose to rely on others to do the legwork for him/her. It’s especially concerning given that you plan to apply to top schools.

As to the three colleges you mention: (a) Yale requires either the ACT or, instead, the SAT and two SAT IIs so submitting ACT is enough and allowed with no SAT IIs or SATs; submitting ACT with two SAT IIs is pointless because the ACT will be the only test considered since SAT IIs are part of the SAT package of tests; as a result it requires you to submit SATs if you submit SAT IIs; (b) Dartmouth requires two SAT IIs regardless of whether you submit ACT or SAT and allows score choice so you can send only tests you want to send; (c) Georgetown policy is a victim of bureacratic stupidity because it is impossible to tell what its actual policy is; in one place it declares that it is anti score choice and you must submit all SATs, ACTs “or” SAT IIs; in other places it says SAT IIs are optional but highly recommends submitting three “regardless of whether you choose to submit the SAT or ACT.” In other words, you can interpret Georgetown’s ruies to be anything you want and thus should call them before choosing what to do.
