Question About Sending Scores

Hi Everyone,

Dumb question. When do I send in my test scores. Do I just self report my scores on the Common App and send them in before the application is due? I have also heard that you wait for an acceptance and then they require you to send them in for verification. Just looking for clarification. Thanks!

Colleges require SAT/ACT (some require SAT2s) with the application. AP and IB scores can be sent after you’re accepted.

They should be send about a month before the application is due, to ensure there is time for them to get there. When this will be depends on when the application is due (some schools have different dates, or you could be applying early).
You do self-report on the Common App, and for some schools this alone might be ok (if you are applying to test-optional schools, for example). But you have to read each school’s policy carefully, as most still require official reports.

Each school will tell you on their web site when the application info is due, to include scores.

OP: It is usually just self-reported in with the rest of the application on CommonApp

@T26E4 Can you send in test scores after deadline if it was the sitting before the deadline and would it replace the score sent in with the app if it was better?

sure. colleges are looking for reasons to admit you.
