Question about senior course selection

I’m sorry if this is a silly question, but I’m considering not filling up every slot for classes in senior year. Of course, I will make sure I have enough credits to graduate. I feel like my time might be better utilized in applications, standardized tests, etc.
Sometimes, senior year schedules and marks do not even come under consideration of colleges if I apply for early decision, but will leaving ‘empty spots’ in my schedule still make me come across as lazy?
Thanks!

It is wise of you to recognize that seniors have a hidden class called college apps. However, if you are applying to tippy top colleges, they will want to see you took the most rigorous schedule available- so, if leaving “empty space” as you say will not mean you get the “most rigorous” designation that would hurt you.

It depends on your high school. Students in my year took one or two free periods but still got a “most rigorous” designation because their other classes were AP. I had a full schedule this year and it sucked. It’s good to be smart about your time commitments

Also think of how you’ll feel in the spring of senior year after you’ve been accepted and just want to graduate. I
personally am taking 5 classes- all AP, and I still got into college. You will want some free time, especially if you work.

You should ask your GC what is required for “most rigorous.”
