Question about SIR date and Financial Aid

So my mom won't be able to pay my UCLA SIR fee until May 15th. However, I've heard from some people that the earlier you turn in your SIR, the more likely you are to get all of the financial aid awarded to you from the University. However, as long as I turn in my SIR by June 1st, shouldn't it not matter? Or do they do it on a first come, first served basis even before the deadline? I'd appreciate any help, I'm really freaking out. It's sort of ironic that by not being able to pay the fee, I might lose out on the money that'll help me go to UCLA. Thanks for any help!

I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. You have until June 1st… the longer you wait until June 1st won’t have any impact on your aid.

yeah, financial aid has nothing to do with when you SIR, as long as it is before the deadline. May 15th will actually be early for the UCs for most people, well unless you are on team SOTS haha

Okay perfect, thank you. I feel much better now!

How much is the SIR anyways? I haven’t checked yet.

It is $100.

Ouch. Well that sucks.

yeah not as bad as Colby-Sawyer. it is $500! but I love their deadline- “as soon as you feel comfortable with your decision to enroll in the fall” haha

Yeah SIR is $100, and $30 for the housing app.
