Question about something odd

My high school counselor told me that if I go straight from high school to a local community college and stay there for 2 terms, and then apply to my chosen undergrad college, they won't even look at my high school transcript. Is this true, or better yet, is it a good idea/worth it?

You need to check at the four year school. Usually the longer you have been at CC the less chance of looking at HS info. It’s certainly worth it if your HS record is very spotty.

Well the only reason I’d do it is the GPA I had from freshman year (1.6…). I had a 3.8 sophomore year and plan on getting a 4.0 this year. But I feel like the 1.6 will really hurt my chances…

Some schools, like the UCs and CSUs do not use freshman grades directly (they are still used for class rank). If there was a genuine reason for the dramatically low grades then your GC can include that in their recommendation.

Most of the schools say they like to see an “upward trend” and yours seems to be a fine example of that.

Alright thanks for the help!

I’ll check it out. Thank you!
