Question about something on the PROFILE

There is a part on the CSS PROFILE that has you estimate your parents **2010 **income. Is this section important? I thought only your parents 2009 data mattered for 2010-2011 financial aid.

I'm asking because I messed up on an estimate, and submitted a PROFILE that has one of my parents estimated income to be $20000 higher than it probably will be. Will this affect my aid? I plan on correcting this, with other figures after my parents do taxes in February. Will it be too late?

Thanks!

Bump, I really need some help if anyone has info please!!

The absolute best way to find an answer to your question is to call the college financial aid offices and ask.

I doubt an estimation error on taxes for a year that has barely begun will have any effect on aid – things change, people lose jobs, they lose on investments, they have major medical problems… anything can happen in the course of a year. Need-based aid is assessed yearly for that reason.

But I don’t know for sure how any given school will look at the information you sent them, and nobody on this board will know for sure either.

Call them. Ask them if you should send in corrections for that now, even before any other corrections you might need to make when your taxes are done.
