Question about standardized test scores

Hi everybody,
So I just got deferred from BC yesterday. Today I got the results of my SAT IIs and they were not what I had hoped.

I know that for BC and some other schools, you can submit the ACT with writing instead of SAT IIs. My ACT with writing is 32, without is 34. I have already submitted the 34.

So, my question is, do I also submit the 32? Or should I just do the SAT II scores? (Math 690, Lit 700)?

Thanks!

If this helps at all:

My SAT II’s were also not what I hoped after taking them twice–
1st time: 650 math 720 history 720 literature
2nd time: 700 math 720 history

However, I chose BC as an acceptor to my SAT II scores to cut down on money…so they got them. I got into BC early action, so I don’t think SAT II’s play a huge role…However I did get 5’s on the AP tests in all of the subjects listed above. Go figure. And I had a 33 ACT if that helps you at all.

You’ll be fine. Best of luck :)

BC clearly states that a submitted ACT MUST have writing. BC even bolds the “must” so you can’t miss it. Thus, you (likely) wasted your money to sent the 34 w/o writing. Your 2250 SAT is high enough for admissions to any college, and significantly higher than a 32+W. Your subject tests scores are also high enough to send to BC.

btw: test scores would not be the reason you were deferred. Heck, a 2250 would not get you deferred from Stanford or Yale.

I was admitted EA with a SAT range of 2050-2120, 3 SAT subject tests bw 700-760, and ACT of 31. I sent ALL scores I had at the time - I didn’t want to play games and I figured that they either wanted me or not. Plus if they superscore, the it could really help to have all scores. I think your scores are in the 50% range for BC, but it’s how you performed in HS and what course load you pursued that will be the deciding factor.

Don’t try too hard to impress them or cover up stuff you think will hurt your chances - they can tell if you’re being too fake. Just submit everything, its OK to have flaws.

Worry more about your essay - it should really let the admissions committee get to see you holistically. It seems like you’re a good student, which is 20% of it. the other 80% IMO is whether the adcom will finish your app with a very clear idea of who you are as a person. If they don’t have a clear idea of who you are, what you can do, or don’t think your personality belongs at BC, then they won’t admit you.

SATs/ACTs are overrated. Focus on making sure the rest of your app represents you well as a PERSON not just a student or test taker.

My 2cents - I was admitted at Georgetown EA as well by following my own advice.

Thanks to those who replied. So it would be better to just send my SAT IIs then?
