Question About Studio Placement

Hi! So I auditioned for Tisch musical theater back in February, and found out today that I was accepted through that email that was sent out. I was wondering how Tisch goes about placing freshmen in studios- how common is it for MT auditionees to be placed in a non-MT studio? And if they do choose another studio for you, how do they decide which one, just based on your audition and where they think you would fit best? I of course told them I’d be happy to be considered for anything, it is such a great school and opportunity. Thank you all so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

I’m not sure about how often MT kids get placed in MT studios but I know that they place you where they think you’ll do the best based on your audition and interview. Like my auditioner asked me what I thought an actor’s role in a production was or if I felt there was one, which was a subtle way of asking what acting technique I liked and whether or not I should be in the Atlantic Company. (Atlantic more or less believes that an actor’s job is to fulfill the playwrights message.) Hope this helps!

From what people have told my daughter throughout this year, placement is rather random after the big MT studio. Although my daughter does feel she is in a good placement at Strassberg.
