question about subject test

I'm debating whether or not to apply to MIT, because they require that you take a science subject test, which i haven't done yet. i'm wondering if i should take it, and i know for sure my score isn't going to be good, although academically and extracurriculars, i'm in good position. is it worth it to take it and risk other schools, (i'm applying to ivy's) seeing a bad score? thanks

If MIT would be one of your top-choices than yes, take the subject test and apply. There is no shame in rejection, but you may regret not submitting your application. If it was more of a school you’d just like to apply to “see what happens”, then i could see considering the option of not taking the risk to keep your application to other elite schools highly impressive. If your academics are as impressive as you claim, I am not sure why you think your score would be awful. Subject tests arent until October, giving you plenty of time to decide the test to take and prepare for it with the plethora of review books availible. Although it may take a bit of luck for you to reach an MIT-acceptable SAT score, a quality subject test score in respect to many other Ivies should be reachable with some dedication. I know this probabaly isnt the yes/no answer you were looking for but only you can decide that, being the only one who knows about your college desires and personal academic expertise. Hope that helps!

If you have good academics by MIT’s standards, there’s no way you can’t get a good science SAT subject score.
