I’m in high school in a dual program where I’ve taken classes at a local community college. But CommonApp doesn’t have an option to submit or list grades from a college. My counselor told me to upload unofficial transcripts from my college onto the application portals of the colleges that I’m applying to. I was wondering if that’s a good idea or not. Some application portals say something along the lines of " If we have not requested that you submit documents to us, you may disregard this."
You need to have official copies of your college transcripts sent to the places you are applying to. Contact the CC, and arrange to have that done. Yes, it is OK to have paper transcripts sent. The colleges/universities that you apply to will be able to add the information to your file.
Do they say nothing about college transcripts?
This is standard language, because they don’t want to be bombarded with extraneous material that an applicant thinks is useful (a letter from mom, the poem they wrote in 10th grade, etc). But college transcripts are typically part of an admission application and is usually specified (“send all transcripts”).
If in doubt, email/call the school. If they require it, I’d send an official transcript.
