Would they look at it bad if you are done with all the GEs and you take some random classes during the summer that don't have anything to do with your Major? Like would they see as if you just trying to raise your GPA and whatnot?

On the flip side, would they look at it bad if you did not take any classes during the summer?

Do they UC’s even consider the summer right before admission as part of their decision? I am pretty sure they do not incorporate your “planned” summer courses, even if they are on the application. This is because summer courses are not included in the final transcripts you send when they finalize their decisions (those admitted under provisional contract).

Summer classes would not count for the higher UC’s. Though, Im not 100% sure about the rest of the UC’s. However remember that the GPA that you have in a CC wouldnt continue when you get into a UC, rather you’ll start with a fresh 0.00GPA when you transfer.

And no, once you are accepted (unless they find a major discretion under your transcript) you’re basically in

I still haven’t applied yet, but I am done with the GEs and almost done with the prereqs.
My school isn’t offering the right prereq classes that I want to take, so back to the questions…

So in other words I don’t need to take any summer classes but would they view it as a bad thing? And if I do choose to take summer classes, and they turn out to be random that has nothing to do with my major and GEs(already completed), would they see that as a bad thing? Because it may look like I am just taking random classes to raise GPA and whatnot.

I am not asking if the summer classes. I am just wondering if my application will be looked down upon by the higher UC’s when I apply if I don’t take any summer classes. And if I do choose to take summer classes, and they turn out to be just random summer classes that I want to take that has nothing to do with my major and GEs(already completed), would they see that as a bad thing? Because it may look like I am just taking random classes to raise GPA and whatnot.

I don’t think they’ll care if you take summer classes or what you take. If summer session helps you finish pre-reqs, good for you, if you fail something, it’ll hurt your chances. It’s really no different than normal classes…
