Question about summer term benefits\financial aid

This may be a stupid question, but I was only offered the summer term to UCF, and it is my top choice, but the only problem is financing my education. On my ucf i checked my aid and it said i received nothing, and total would be around 33,600. And my parents are already leaning away from this school completely. Is what is on myucf definite on what i am receiving?

Also, does it cost extra to take this summer semester?

lol, one more thing, what are ail the benefits of doing the summer term?

Sorry, I know that decisions are in 8 days (I've already sent in my deposit here...) But I'm trying to convince my parents that this is the school I need to go to.

Thank you!

They tell you after you register (FYI summer aid is what’s left over so it isn’t much compared to Fall/Spring), it takes a little while. And I recall reading that the amount isn’t final until after the add/drop deadlines.

No it doesn’t cost extra.

I’ve been taking summer classes since I started college in Fall 08 (Community College) and when I start at UCF this summer I’ll only have 3 semesters left until I graduate…so pretty much the benefits are graduating early and less people at the school. I hope I answered this question correctly.

Have you sent in all the documents that they are asking from your ‘to-do list’? If not, you need to do so asap, because they will not give you any aid if they still need things from you. If you still have questions and don’t want to call them, send them an email- they reply pretty fast.

For my summer aid I haven’t recieved anything yet (neither have my friends) so I don’t think UCF has revealed any estimated aid to anyone at this point (or atleast I hope not because then I’m screwed lol). If you have aid for fall (pell grant, other grants, etc.) then you will most likely get similar aid for summer.

Where did you get $33,600?

At the bottom you can see a chart that says Estimated Cost of Attendance for Summer 2010 Undergraduate Student and from my understanding it is based on full time enrollment which is 14 hours I think? And normally for summer you only take like 6 hours so the tuition and fees stated for out of state students ($9,580) should be around half that…

On the same page it also says “Summer financial aid estimates will be posted on myUCF beginning mid-April after students have registered for summer classes.” So any day now I hope…i don’t really understand what it means by “after students have registered for summer classes” though does that mean not until orientation (which is when we register)…?

Here is also a program eligiblity chart…it basically tells you the grants you can recieve in certain semesters depending on how many hours you do…for summer the majority is a minimum of six hours. So if you got the pell grant and ucf grant and seog grant for fall, you will probably get it for summer as long as you do six hours :)

@kael92 No, they have I got my estimate but I was at the first orientation for transfers, so if you haven’t registered than it won’t be up yet.

You don’t get a lot because it’s what’s left over and if you got add for both this past Fall and Spring than you won’t get it this Summer.

If you are a freshman starting Summer B 2010, then you need to fill out a FAFSA for the 2009/2010. You will receive federal loans, both subsidized and unsubsidized.

The for Fall 2010 to Spring 2011, you need to fill out the FAFSA for 2010/2011. That will get you federal loans and any UCF grants and stuff. You also need to fill out a FAFSA if you want to do work/study.
