Question about Supplemental Recommendations

Hey everyone,
So I was looking over the application the other day and deciding which teachers/mentors I would use as my two recommendations. Then I realized that I'd like to present a recommendation from my extracurriculars, from people I've known since the age of 3. Does the admissions office really welcome these supplemental readings? Considering they are the things to which I've dedicated so much time and effort in my life and have seen grow with me as i got older. I believe they're truly important in the admissions process because it shows that I'm not some phony who's only been doing nice things in the community since i got to high school and started thinking seriously about college. What are your thoughts?
