Question about switching majors (UCI)

I recently got admitted into UCI as a mathematics major, but recently I have been more interested in physics. I have completed every single math class at my CC but no physics classes. Is it possible for me to change my major to physics?

From the UCI website Physical Sciences:

NEW TRANSFER STUDENTS cannot usually change their major once they have been accepted. An Academic Counselor in the office you want to change to can evaluate your previous coursework to determine whether or not you qualify for the new major. If you do, then your major can be changed. Visit http://ps.uci.edu/~stuaff/ac.html for Counseling office info.

So does that mean I have to meet the physics major requirements in order to change majors?

You always have to fulfill the pre-reqs before you can switch into any major.

my niece was able to in person with her advisor, switch majors “on the spot” when she went to her orientation during the summer last year. From BioMedical Engineering to EE, which is both within the Engineering school. Not sure if this applies directly to you though, since she was an incoming freshman.
