Question about TAG and min. units

So i currently have 27 units. I want to apply to the TAG program for UCSB, but it says 30 units are needed in order to be eligible. Does this mean i have to have 30 units by the end of Fall? Or by September 30th?

If so, is there any way i can get 3 more units in quickly?
Has anyone dealt with this before and what is the best course of action in this case?

Thanks in advance.

From UCSB’s TAG information: “Applicants must have completed 30 UC-transferable semester units (excluding AP/IB/A Level units) prior to TAG submission.”

Unfortunately, the 30 units need to be completed by the time you submit your TAG.

See if there are any summer classes you could add into at any local CC- some have three week sessions starting soon.
Many CC’s have a “credit by examination” policy, but it is usual not well-known. If you cannot find anything online about such, I would go ask in person. Example: You are familiar with basic psychology, and take an examination to try and earn credit for psychology 101.

There is a similar thread titled “Short 1 credit!” on this first page that deals with a similar scenario for also the UCSB TAG and being short units. Some great insight if you read through it. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice! I tried to find any online classes open at this time and i think it’s too late to enroll in any /:
Also, are the credits by examination UC transferrable?

Some schools offer shorter classes in the fall, like 5 week classes or something like that. They are usually late-start classes at least at my cc, but I’ve seen some “early-end” ones too. See if your school offers this option, and you might finish another 3 units by the time of application.
Or, if your finances will allow, you could take a class at a UC in the summer. Many allow visiting students to take classes, and summer session II hasn’t started yet (at least at UCI - don’t know about the others, but I’d imagine they are at least similar).
Sorry I didn’t know a lot of details, but who knows, maybe you can find something that works for you! :)
