Alright, most of my colleges ask for the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and 'a signed copy of your federal tax returns and W-2 tax forms' - I am no accountant, so I am not sure if this means they want a paper copy of the forms or if the FAFSA or CSS Profile just sends them to the college and I just need to sign it.

Any idea what the colleges want?

Print out your forms and sign them. They want you to send them hard copies.

um so we, the student applicants, sign the forms we send in? like if they want an income and benefits statement, we, and not our parents or their employers, sign the forms?

parents must sign their tax forms. You would sign any that are in your name (if there are any).

Also, for 2009 taxes, they only need to be the signed forms you have or WILL send in. It is not required that you have already filed your taxes, just that you produce the form that will be filed.
