Question about Tax Returns and other forms...

I asked my parents to talk to our CPA and get their 2010 tax returns, which most schools I'm applying to (Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, NU, and Vandy) require around mid February, or sooner. However, I'm now confused because the CPA said almost no one gets tax returns that are filed in 2010 by this time, since they're not due til April.
So, do universities/IDOC/whatever ask for the tax returns/W-2s/etc that were filed in 2010 (and now available instantly) or those filed now, and [will be] given in April?

Their CPA doesn’t understand that you must meet certain deadlines for these schools…he probably doesn’t have kids in college! Your parents need to have their 2010 taxes filed early this year, even though the IRS deadline is April 15th. Schools are not on the same schedule as the IRS and are often unforgiving to those who miss THEIR deadlines for financial aid.
