Question about teacher recommendations

Hi!

Most of the schools to which I'm applying require two teacher recommendations. But, when I visited these colleges, a lot said at their info sessions that you can submit one or two extra if you feel it would add something. As a result, I've asked a total of three teachers for recommendations. But when I go on the Common App, a lot the schools only allow me to assign a max of two teachers in the School Forms section. Some allow me to add extras, but most don't.

What am I supposed to do about extra teacher recs...should I mail them by paper? Is there any way to get around this within the online Common App?

Thanks!!

I think you have your guidance counselor mail it out for you.

If the common app only lets you put in two then it will only accept 2. Some schools let you add more. Talk to your counselor about mailing it. You may need to supply a stamped addressed envelope.

Be careful about submitting more than two LOR. I would suggest you do so only if the third teacher will be able to write something truly unique about you.

Remember the old adcom adage: the thicker the file, the thicker the student.

The person who writes the extra rec has to fax it/ mail it to the university that your applying to.
