Hey so I'm an incoming freshman and have already registered for my classes. CTools has some of the textbooks I am going to need listed already. I've been trying to find them but have had no luck. If I put the ISBN in Amazon (have tried a couple other sites too), there are no matches. Any suggestions on how I can find them (I am trying to find them online so I can get them cheaper).

Thanks

Hmm… it worked for me. Can you post the book, isbn, and course information here and maybe we can try to find it for you?

A few of the books that I’ve seen on CTools are only available at one of Michigan’s bookstores. For instance, the book I need to get for my Spanish 232 class is only available at the bookstore.

That’s be great. I just might be doing something wrong. So far, I only have the info for three classes.

Additional Information
Custom Michigan edition of text is used, other editions are not comparable. The math department is not responsible for purchases made if the textbook for a class changes.

Think you’re stuck buying from ulrich’s or whatever, especially the custom math.

Is the custom math book really different? Personally, I’d just buy that from amazon. Look at the used books. Cost of book + Shipping is $4. Worst case scenario, if you can’t use it, you lost $4.

Bought these books last year so you’ll want to verify they are the same. The Math 105 book isbn is 9780470484746 (non-custom version) It was exactly the same and you can find it on Amazon. I believe it was around $95 new last year but sold it back for $76.

For Chemistry 130 the bookstore is just selling a custom version that includes the text with the OWL access. Don’t have the book handy (it’s at home) to check the isbn but it can be either the soft covered Michigan version or the publisher hard cover. There are a lot of used ones out there if you look. Note you will need to buy the OWL access. Its isbn is 9780495384427. I was able to get it last year online at Barnes and Noble for $38.95. That with the $25 I spent on a used text, I spent $64 for Chem 130 books last year. Hope that helps. You can always go to the bookstore to confirm isbn numbers.

Hmm - just checked the Math 105 book listing for this fall and it lists a 2012 edition. My hunch is that’s just because they went to a custom version. You can always call the math department and ask them about the difference in books. I found the departments helpful in the past with these type of questions.

The Chem 130 textbook - 9781285252209 is brand new. Was not posted on Ulrich’s for some time - noted as ISBN # not found, as they had 900 on order that just came in.

I just checked their website and only option currently is to buy new at $172! Let’s hope they use for future classes and sell back $$ is fairly high.

If you have a problem in the future, just give Ulrich’s a call. They are very helpful. I don’t think you will find this textbook anywhere else for now.
Good luck!
