Some of the schools i'm considering (Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers) state that they accept either the SAT or ACT, but when I go to look for people who have submitted ACT scores, it's 0%. The schools don't even give ranges for the ACT, and leave it blank, yet say they accept it. Does anyone know what the deal is, and if these schools do indeed accept the ACT, or not?

Anyone have an answer?

BUMP

Feel free to say "No", so I know people are actually reading this ;-)

I'm from New Mexico, and have applied to many eastern schools. I've learned through the people that I met at the schools that numerous eastern schools cannot post their average ACT scores because they don't have enough applicants that actually take the ACT (in fact, I just two people told me that they took it). It seems that the ACT is taken mostly by Westerners. I'm not well-aquainted with those particular schools, but I would definitely send my ACT score if they said it was OK (mine was more impressive than my SAT score).

Hmmm, that's interesting yoshi, because i'm from the midwest, where the ACT was originated, I don't know why there wouldn't be more schools like that, but Syracuse, Maryland, and Rutgers aren't midwest or west

I don't know the answer to your question, sorry. (just letting u know that I'm reading this ;))

But I wanted to add that do submit your ACT score and SAT score anyway, regardless of what stats you're reading. Having both scores on file can really help your chances of admission.

Oh geez... my SAT score was poor :-(

I was just planning on sending my ACT score, but if it's my SAT score included, then I guess I have to re-take it

All three accept the ACT and treat it for admission no different than the SAT. About 25% of the applicants to Syracuse submit the ACT and about 10% at the other two. Many of those are also applicants who submit the SAT since for each the number submitting the SAT is in the high 90's percent. The colleges just don't bother to publish their ACT ranges of admitted students which is why you cannot find them.

Don't submit a poor SAT, just submit the ACT and you will be fine.
