My son wants to submit a link to clips of some of his musical performances. Does it matter whether it's linked in the "Multimedia Information" of the Candidate Profile" section, or later in the "Optional Supplemental Information" section? Seems they both serve the same purpose, but I am wondering if there is a benefit for it to be in one place vs. the other.

The reason I ask is that the Gateway application doesn't let you move on until the Candidate Profile is complete, and you can't edit it once its submitted.

But we are not finished editing and compiling the clips for the link...and he could be working on other sections in the meantime.

Anyone have an idea or an opinion on the matter?

I think either is fine as long as it reaches the school. I would put it in the “supplemental information” just so you can submit the candidate profile sooner. It won’t be lost.

I would call the admission office directly and ask what the preference is. I would also ask if it is possible to send the performance demos to a specific person in the music department. I know for athletes there is a “Prospective Athlete” form to complete that goes directly to the appropriate coach. I don’t see that option in the arts section of the website. I personally would make contact with the music department because if they like it, there is another person pulling for your son or daughter. Andover has an amazing music department.

That would be nice of course, but if you ask Admissions, most likely they’d tell you to send it to Admissions. Years ago, we were told to send in a CD, which Admissions would forward to the music department for review. I think logistically it’s easier to keep track of things than sending pieces of application to different departments outside Admissions.
