I have not taken many community college classes and am not familiar with certain types of aid, being a UC to UC transfer and everything. Last summer I took some courses at COC and SBCC and did not receive any financial aid. I do not remember why.. perhaps I did not list them on my FAFSA or fill out appropriate forms. I don't know.

This summer, I was going to take an online course with SBBC. I enrolled and logged in a couple days later to pay and I was surprised to see it was already taken care of. I then saw that I was awarded a BOG waiver and assumed that is where the money came from. So I thought, that's great, and went on with my day.

However, I have recently dropped that course. I assumed the money would stay with the school and I did not intend to file for a refund. A couple days letter I received a check for the remaining amount printed a couple days before I dropped the class.

I sent an email six days ago and financial aid has not responded. I plan on calling tomorrow but in the mean time I want to know two things:

1) What will need to happen with the check?

2) By having accepted the money initially, will this in any way affect my financial aid at UCLA? I don't want to find out later that by being given a BOG waiver that I will lose any of my grant money.

Thanks
