i know the co-op program can hook you up with a good job coming out of your undergrad, but are the jobs usually in the Atlanta area? or are there recruiters from other parts of the country?

GTech is at least 12 hours from home, and i dunno if i want to have a job so far away.

Most jobs are in the southeast, with most in Atlanta. However, I have read of people who cooped with companies in their home town. You just have to do a little more legwork on your own to come up with the job - the coop center may not have a company lined up for you.

My son is cooping on campus this summer for the first time. He sounds like he wishes he had come home for the summer, so you definitely raise a valid concern. He didn't realize it would be quite so hard to be away from friends and family year round with only very short breaks.
