There are rooms on college app. for you to describe your position and your role in the EC that u participated in, but since the process is mostly done via online, there is a limit in number of words
Does this limit differ from school to school?
and in most cases, is it sufficient enuff?
some of my EC’s need a fairly lengthy description… I fear that I mite have trouble and abbreviate it in a form where the adcoms may not be able to understand.

There are a couple of ways of handling this. If the EC is pretty standard, you can assume the adcom with be familiar with it, and the small number of characters should suffice. If you have won awards with the EC you can list the awards in the Awards and Honors box. You can write about the EC in your essay or a secondary essay. If your teachers or GC are familiar with the EC, they can mention it in their rec's.

Finally - if none of this seems sufficient, you can attach a resume with a longer (but concise) description.

I would strongly encourage you to create such a resume. Its easy to cut and paste from when filling the on-line forms!

Sometimes you need to try and make it as concise as possible. Some schools give you room for maybe 2-3 sentences, while others give you room to write whatever you want. A lot of applications also have a section for "additional information"...if the room they provided wasn't enough then you can just write more about it in this section.
