Question about the college essay

<p>What is the approximate length of an average college essay? Is a 3-paged essay too long?</p>

<p>The common application essay is supposed to be approximately 500 words. I think that will make a little over a page. So yeah 3 pages is too long :)</p>

<p>500 words is around a page single spaced and two pages double spaced. Try it out yourself on Word. And as for length, think “If I were an admissions officer, would I find this tedious?”</p>

<p>There is no determined maximum length or word count, but 1 to 2 pages single spaced, or 2 to 3 pages double spaced seems about the typical length. This is probably about 500 to 750 words, but again, it should be as long as it needs to be and no longer.
