Why does JHU only report the Math and English scores for the ACT in their common data set. Does this mean that they do not look at the reading and science sections as much? Or do they just not report them?

It may stem from the fact that ACT Reading and Science sections have been repeatedly found to be poor predictors of college success outcomes: http://www.nber.org/papers/w17119
This may mean that less emphasis is put on these sections by the school, but I actually don’t know why they choose not to report them.
THe data set is misleading in many ways, I noticed. For example, it says JHU does not consider dedicated interest in the admission process, but that’s obviousily not true. In this same way, don’t be fooled that JHU will consider the ACT Reading and Science less than the Math and English. Although ACT Science and Reading are not accurate predictions of college success, they are still skills you should have acquired throughout high school.
