so i'm pretty sure that i will be attending ucsb this fall! but first i have a question about the dorms. santa catalina seems like a good pick for me, even though it's a mile away from campus, because it houses 1/3 of the freshman, it's set up suite style, and it has many appealing amenities. so i guess my only concern is, is it too crazy? i've read online that it has settled down a bit in the past years, but i just want to make sure i'm not going to regret picking it. i definitely want to have fun in college and make tons of new friends, but my studies are also important to me. i'm leaning towards santa catalina right now, but i want to know that it's an okay balance..

I’m moving there this fall.

I lived there.
If you don’t mind the distance, then it’s a great place to live. It’s not crazy. It’s not out of control. You can ‘do you own thing’

Problem is that you may feel differently about the distance once you start commuting every day to campus AND back.

My question is are the bike paths to and from Santa Catalina longboardable?

Another question…how often does the bus come around for rides to the campus? Thanks!

what does ‘longboardable’ even mean? o_o
i’m also lookig towards santa catalina, it looks like the best place to socialize with other freshmen =]
but i’m also gonna seriously study so i think it’ll be possible to work hard & party hard ;]

pretty self explanatory… able to be longboarded, longboardable.

a longboard being?
i’m from out of town ok ;]

More like out of country? haha :P

lol- i feel like i’d rather be closer to the beach and the actual campus so as to be able to go back n forth easier and santa catalina just feels like it wouldn’t deliver as much of the campus feel just like a warehouse of people
–but that’s my opinion and since i haven’t visited yet i prbly dont really kno wat im talking about.

I’ve heard it sucks to bike back and forth on rainy days. I was thinking about FT as well ( I hear everyone calling it FT so that’s what I call it haha) but I think the distance thing kills it for me. Although you do get to bring a car if you live there so I haven’t taken it off my list yet.

I raced someone on their longboard when I was on my bike. He pretty much beat me.

@itsrichardd try out of continent lol
yeah i’ve seen those but we call it something else here =P
