Hi everyone!

I am in the process of applying to GS- and I feel very nervous about it! I currently have a 3.8 GPA at a community college. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and it seems like Columbia thinks I make a good candidate for admission, because they have been courting me for months now.
However, I am petrified about my past academic experience. In high school, my average was about a B-, sometimes a B. I had a rough time in HS, so I did not do as well as I could have. At this point in my life, I have made a great effort to do well in school, but I don't know if my past grades will ruin my chances. Has anyone here gotten into GS despite not having done well in HS?

Also, the essay makes me nervous, because I am not sure what I should say. What should I talk about exactly? Should I mention why I didn't do well? How far should I go (if anyone wants to know what I mean, I can PM you) when talking about my life experiences? I would love to receive some feedback from people who were accepted by Columbia.
