Question about the essay!

Essay screwed me, I am positive. I didn't finish it.

Is it possible to get a 9 or a 10 on an essay that is cut off in the conclusion paragraph? also if the essay is like 1.7 pages long. Unfinished though...

no I do not think so.

while it’s not probable, anything is possible.

readers understand that you’re cut for time, but as long as you have a little bit of a conclusion then you should still have a chance at 9 or 10

however, it’ll depend mostly upon what quality of work you’ve written from the beginning.
do you feel that you had a solid intro and support?

yes… but my conclusion was two sentences and cut off mid sentence

as long as you have a decent beginning and middle support then you should have an 8 no matter what. i mean, i concluded an essay that was supposed to be about “does planning stifle creativity” with “…spice is the variety of life–especially in India where curry abounds.” and i didn’t get to cross that out but still got a 9, so it’s fine. don’t worry too much.

no if the essay doesnt have a conclusion even an 8 is a stretch

Yes, the max you should get is around 7-9

Sigh. I love how a lot of people are stressing over the introduction and conclusion of the SAT essay, when factually, they will not be as critical if you have already established the core IDEA of the conclusion.

My question for you is at what point do you break off? If you make the necessary ties to already “conclude,” but you haven’t left off with a signature departure sentence, then it shouldn’t hamper things at all.

I have a lot of friends who score 9-10 on essays with one sentence introductions and conclusions–however, they manage to cram in 3-4 paragraphs in the center.

It’s true that the body of the essay is important, but don’t discount the value of a solid intro and conclusion. I got a 12 in March, and my intro+conclusion made up nearly half my essay.
